The American Red Cross is providing guidance to instructors and organizations who are allowed to offer social distancing courses according to state and local regulations. Babysitters Training provides youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old.

Instructor Orientation Overview

Instructor orientation is a comprehensive program designed to introduce new instructors to the organization's culture, policies, procedures, and teaching methodologies. The goal of the orientation is to ensure that instructors are fully prepared to deliver effective and engaging training sessions that align with the company’s standards and objectives.

During orientation, instructors will receive:

  • Introduction to the Organization: Overview of the company’s mission, values, and organizational structure.

  • Policy and Procedure Training: Detailed explanation of key policies, including compliance, safety, and administrative procedures.

  • Teaching Methodologies: Guidance on instructional techniques, curriculum design, and student engagement strategies tailored to the company’s specific approach.

  • Resource Familiarization: Introduction to the tools, materials, and resources available to support their teaching efforts, including technology platforms and instructional aids.

  • Support and Expectations: Clarification of the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of instructors, as well as information on where to seek assistance and continuous professional development opportunities.
